EPA Regional Offices

The Western Region is served by four regional EPA offices, responsible for implementing EPA programs within their territories.

Western Region IR-4

The IR-4 Specialty Crops Project is tasked to provide safe and effective pest management solutions for specialty crop growers. Western Region IR-4 is based at the University of California, Davis.

IR-4 establishes project priorities through a nationwide stakeholder-input process through the IR-4 Food Use Workshop. Information from this worksop my be useful in needs assessments because the workshop provides documentation of crop-pest combinations where a stakeholder-driven process has identified a need for better pest-management tools.

AgInnovation-West

AgInnovation-West, formerly the Western Association of Agricultural Experiment Station Directors, plans and manages multi-state research activities important to the Western Region and the nation.

Centers for Agricultural Safety and Health

These centers work to improve the health and safety of producers and workers in farming, fisheries and forestry.

Western Extension, Research and Academic Coordinating Committee – WERA 1017

The WERA-1017 technical committee functions as a coordination and vision-setting body for research and extension IPM programs in the West.

Western Plant Diagnostic Network  

The Western Plant Diagnostic Network works to enhance national agricultural security by detecting introduced pests and pathogens. It is headquartered at the University of California, Davis.

The states of Montana, Wyoming and Colorado are served by the Great Plains Diagnostic Network headquartered at Kansas State University.

Western Sustainable Agriculture, Research and Education

The Western SARE Program funds research and education projects to improve profitability, stewardship and quality of life. Western SARE is headquartered at Montana State University.
