Center-Funded Website Helps Vets Treat Animals for Fleas, Ticks and Other Pests

Whether it's cattle with face flies or a dog with ticks, vets throughout the West can now easily find the available treatment options in their state thanks to a new website built with Western IPM Center funding.

Created by Alec Gerry at UC Riverside, the "Insect Pests of Animals" website presents information on IPM practices for managing pests of animals, and hosts the database of the pesticides registered in each state. It also contains training videos, funding opportunities and links of interest in veterinary entomology.

The website is produced as an extension service of the USDA S1060 Multistate Research and Extension Project to provide information on the biology and management of animal ectoparasites - flies, lice, ticks, mites, fleas. Contributors include extension and experiment station faculty at universities across the United States.
